Connectors, Interconnects177252 Parts160 Mfrs
Connectors are electromechanical components that connect conductors (wires) to appropriate matching components to connect and disconnect circuits. Their function is to transmit current or signals.
According to the functions of internal and external connections of electronic devices, interconnection can be divided into five levels:
1. Internal connection of chip packages.
2. Connection between IC package pins and PCB, with a typical connector being the IC socket.
3. Connection between printed circuits and wires or printed boards, with typical connectors being printed circuit connectors.
4. Connection between baseboards, with typical connectors being cabinet connectors.
5. Connection between devices, with typical products being circular connectors.
Among the five levels of connectors, the third and fifth level products have the highest market share, while the third level products are currently the fastest growing.
When selecting a connector, hardware engineers generally only confirm the basic size and main functions of the connector.
